A Digital Nook for Creative Librarianship

Welcome to the Nook
Hi! I’m Ellie — a librarian-in-training, cartoonist, and video editor. You’ll also see me here as my duck avatar, who’s been through this whole MLIS adventure with me.
I left retail and joined an MLIS program, thinking it would be a clear break from the grind of customer service.

But well into the program, I started to notice some uncomfortable similarities between libraries and retail — burnout, bullying, and bullshit.
I’ve always used games, art, and other forms of creativity to create anchors, find strength, uncover possibilities and alternatives to my problems, and give back to myself.
Even on my most exhausted days, creativity gave me back to myself.

And one day it hit me: librarians need that same space to play, reflect, and recharge.

Though Inklenook is still being built, I’ve got some big ideas.

Creative Prompts
Short, playful journaling prompts designed to spark reflection and imagination in your professional and personal life.

Reflections & Observations
Thoughtful musings on play, creativity, and the realities of library work — honest, curious, and sometimes a little messy.

Connection & Engagement
A welcoming nook for LIS professionals and hopefuls to share their own stories, join conversations, and connect with others who believe creativity belongs in libraries.

Let’s Connect

I’d love for you to join me in this experiment! Inklenook is just getting started, and there’s plenty more to come. Keep an eye on this space!
